The Highway
“Near the wreckage of a semi-truck, hidden among low vegetation and a few stones, I found a small notebook. Or rather, a diary.”
The Highway is a photographic story that follows the pages of an abandoned logbook, the sole survivor of a dangerous road accident. Surface-level memories and the entire life of Giorgi, a young truck driver who has made the road his life, emerge from its pages. Giorgi’s anxieties, his thoughts, and his desire to keep alive the love that waits for him at home every day take shape in a river of words. Like a stream of consciousness, the photographs guide the viewer through the truck driver’s final journey, amidst his reflections on life, his fears, and memories of what has always made him happy.
“I have finally arrived at the foot of the mountain. So magnificent and mighty, beautiful to the point of being terrifying. It always makes me feel so small, so useless. An ant in this anthill that is the earth.”
– Giorgi
